ANDY HUMAN started up in Oakland recently as ANDY JORDAN’s (THE CUTS, BUZZER, MEERCAZ) new band and the tunes are riddled with developed hooks and creamy sheen with the most “together” song-writing since the Cuts. This debut 7-inch lays out two great cuts of Andy Humanity and it’s a damn shimmery piece of solid gold pop. Well recorded, well played stuff to be sure. The A-sides “Toy Man” is a genius one-two punch of Jordan’s spacey pop tendencies fully cut loose, with a sweet guitar line and just awesome pop-writing perfection via well placed total tempo fluctuations, tightness, and transitions of a veteran homeboy. The flipside, “Center of Gravity” is an equally sweet, organ-driven, strangely dancey and weirdly melancholic tune that is sure to have all heads bobbing. Certainly equally catchy and brilliant as the A side but settled into it’s groove a bit more and “vibing out”. 500 pressed on great sounding vinyl.
